Cemeteries are often situated in vernal locations with ponds, hills and trees. Walkers and hikers enjoy strolling the grounds while birders flock there in the Spring and Fall to catch the yearly migrations. Artists find inspiration in the evocative, often exotic monuments. I admire not only individual statuary but enjoy the relationship they have with the surrounding city and landscape. In particular, I am attracted to memorials that reveal an influence from foreign countries and ages past.
